The Republic of Guinea is no longer subject to EU arms embargo.
Prohibitions
Between October 2009 and April 2014, the EU enforced an arms embargo against the Republic of Guinea, which prohibited the sale or supply of arms and any related material and equipment, which might be used for internal repression.
Exceptions
Requiring no prior approval or notification:
- Non-lethal military equipment or of equipment which might be used for internal repression, intended solely for humanitarian or protective use, or for institution building programmes of the United Nations (UN) and of the European Union and its Member States (Decision 2011/706/CFSP, art. 1).
- Non-lethal military equipment or of equipment which might be used for internal repression, intended solely for Guinea police and gendarmerie (Decision 2011/706/CFSP, art. 1).
Requiring prior notification to the EU Member-States:
- Explosives and related equipment intended solely “for civilian use in mining and infrastructure investments”, as well as related assistance (Decision 2012/665/CFSP, art. 1, para. 1).

The Republic of Guinea is no longer under ECOWAS arms embargo.
Prohibitions
Between October 2009 and March 2011, ECOWAS enforced an arms embargo, which prohibited the sale or supply of small arms and light weapons to the Republic of Guinea.
