Egypt has been under EU arms embargo since August 2013 (Council of the EU conclusions on Egypt 13089/13 (2013)). However, sanctions provided for in these Conclusions are not considered legally binding.

Prohibitions
Paragraph eight of the Council conclusions on Egypt signals common agreement between EU Member States to suspend export licenses to Egypt of any equipment which might be used for internal repression, without providing definitions of such equipment. States also agreed to reassess export licenses of equipment covered by the Common military list of the European Union, in line with criteria of EU Common Position 2008/944/CFSP.
Exceptions
These sanctions are indefinite.
